Позиционирование камеры и технология Light Field

Мое первое знакомство с компанией Lytro и технологией Light Field состоялось летом 2012 года, когда на рынок вышла первая камера компании. Ее пытались превратить в модную игрушку для хипстеров, осознанно сделали конструкцию непохожей на обычные фотоаппараты, в небольшом параллелепипеде узнать фотоаппарат было нельзя.

Окружающие совсем не реагировали на то, что в моих руках камера, и подход компании был понятен, они пытались подчеркнуть, что у них получился не обычный фотоаппарат, а нечто противоположное и имеющее иную технологию. Отличное исполнение корпуса, невозможность придраться к тому, как сделали Lytro первого поколения – это были явные плюсы, но все же устройство на рынке воспринималось как камера, ведь на выходе мы получали фотографии, которые могли смотреть. И никакие слова о том, что вместо разрешения, измеряемого в мегапикселях, надо учитывать мегалучи, не скрывали того факта, что итоговые снимки получались низкого разрешения, их нельзя было просмотреть вне компьютера, так как требовалась специальная программа. Все это стало камнем преткновения, и большинство энтузиастов технологии споткнулись на том, что похвастать каким-то необычным результатом они не могли. То, что подкупало в первой камере Lytro и является ключевым в технологии Light Field, – это возможность, нажав единожды на затвор, получить снимок, в котором можно менять глубину резкости уже в дальнейшем. Не нужно выбирать тот план, который вы хотите получить в снимке резким, это можно сделать на компьютере, и таких планов может быть несколько. Заочно я ожидал очень многого от камеры и мечтал о том, как смогу реализовать несколько задумок. На практике все перечеркивало низкое разрешение, смартфоны на тот момент уже снимали заметно лучше. И убедить себя в том, что надо использовать технологию Light Field, было решительно невозможно, она не воспринималась как прогрессивная, хотя по факту таковой являлась. Камера Lytro на рынке провалилась во всех смыслах, мы не увидели взлета технологии, и я, предвидя такое развитие событий, вынес в заголовок слова о несостоявшийся революции.


Я не хочу повторять описание самой технологии Light Field, это сделано в обзоре первой камеры, также как приведены и ссылки на историю создания камер, исследования в этой области. Очень рекомендую прочитать этот текст, чтобы понимать основы работы устройства, о котором мы будем говорить.

Через три года появляется Lytro Illum, эта камера демонстрирует, что компания учла ошибки первого поколения и попыталась создать для своей технологии совсем иной продукт.


Для начала, Illum выглядит как обычная, профессиональная камера и воспринимается внешне именно в таком качестве. Никакого отрицания привычных зеркальных камер, оптики и тому подобных вещей. С точки зрения позиционирования, исчезла идея противопоставления технологии Light Field традиционной фотографии, и это неплохо. Из этого следует то, что говорит сам производитель, камера Illum – это фотоаппарат, дающий дополнительные возможности тем, кто уже умеет фотографировать, любит это делать и хочет получить инструмент с новыми возможностями. Но при этом никакого упоминания только профессионалов, это могут быть и любители, все те, кто хотел бы получить необычную возможность изменять глубину резкости уже после съемки.




Говорить о том, что в Lytro продумали свою концепцию до последнего винтика, нельзя. Компания пытается найти те ниши на рынке, где она может быть успешна, и в чем-то бьет наугад. Например, я совершенно не понимаю легенды, согласно которой свадебные фотографы захотят купить Illum, чтобы делать красивые фотографии молодых. Этакий способ выделиться, показывая свои фотографии со свадьбы, что предполагает повышенный интерес к тем фотографам, кто будет пользоваться такими камерами. С точки зрения логики, тут не все однозначно, так как качественные свадебные фотографы (само выражение «свадебный фотограф» в определенных кругах стало нарицательным, несущим негативную окраску) не могут рисковать своей репутацией и за счет нее продвигать новый формат фотографий. Если бы в Lytro смогли навязать эту идею рынку, захватить умы и показать, что получается, тогда бы они сдвинули дело с мертвой точки. Но таких ресурсов у компании нет, поэтому эта часть легенды повисает в воздухе.

Но, например, криминалисты в Европе оказались первой профессиональной аудиторией, что смогла оценить Lytro Illum и приобретает эти камеры. Для них высокое разрешение снимков зачастую неактуально, общие планы нужно получить с максимальной глубиной резкости, что заставляет делать множество однотипных фотографий, не все они в силу разных причин выходят идеальными, что-то отправляется в брак. Но вернуться на место преступления и сфотографировать все заново практически невозможно. Поэтому Illum в качестве второй камеры для них почти идеален, они нажимают один раз на кнопку затвора, а уже на резкость могут наводить на компьютере, выделяя те или иные предметы на общем плане. Иногда апологеты технологии Light Field в запале начинают утверждать, что криминалисты – это самые прогрессивные люди на планете и они выкинули свои старые камеры, но это не так. Для них Illum стал удобным, но дополнительным инструментом. Без него можно обойтись, что и демонстрируют их коллеги во многих странах мира.

Я специально подобрал два разных примера, чтобы показать, что этот продукт может восприниматься очень различно. Все зависит от вашей системы ценностей и мировосприятия, а также того, что именно и как вы фотографируете. Объективно можно утверждать, что Illum – это совсем другой продукт, нежели первое поколение Lytro, они не имеют ничего общего ни в позиционировании, ни в исполнении, ни в результирующих возможностях. Сама компания не видит эту камеру как продукт для массового рынка, заменить обычный фотоаппарат Illum не может, да и не стремится. Это инструмент для творчества или решения вполне конкретных задач, которые вытекают из его уникальной возможности в постобработке снимков. И тут зачастую мне приходится слышать или читать очень категоричные заявления, что Illum никому не нужен. Это не так, продажи камеры не огромны, но они есть, и это еще один толчок в сторону популяризации таких устройств. В будущем ниша камер светового поля может увеличиться, у них есть сферы применения, в которых обычные камеры пасуют. При этом и в обычных камерах пытаются добиться того же эффекта, но тут склеивают несколько снимков в один, что также имеет свои ограничения. Какой подход возобладает, сложно сказать, возможно, что наиболее дешевый или выиграют оба. Но у меня появилось ощущение, что если в Lytro не ошибутся со следующим своим продуктом, у них хватит на него денег в 2017-2018 годах, то мы можем увидеть очень интересное развитие технологии. Но чтобы оценить этот момент, надо посмотреть на то, что умеет Illum сегодня и как устроена эта камера.

Дизайн, управляющие элементы и как работать с камерой

Первое впечатление, когда берешь Illum в руку, что камера большая, она сравнима по размеру с моим Canon 5d3, разница почти незаметна. При весе в 940 грамм ее размеры 144х166х86 мм. В карман камеру не положить, незаметно куда-то не пронести. Назвать ее компактной нельзя.


Создатели Illum явно хотели добиться сходства с профессиональными зеркалками и привлечь внимание к своему продукту, в том числе и за счет этого. Как я уже говорил, с инженерной точки зрения первая Lytro была выполнена на очень хорошем уровне, никаких технических огрехов просто не было. В Illum инженеры Lytro еще раз подтвердили, что они едят свой хлеб не зря, нет никакого ощущения, что это первый продукт такого рода для компании, напротив, кажется, что они выпустили уже десятки камер.

Материалы корпуса – алюминий и магниевый сплав, сверху силиконовые вставки, которые позволяют удобно взять ее в одну руку. Все элементы управления расположены справа, одной рукой можно менять настройки во время съемки, продуманность интерфейса крайне высокая, учли самые незначительные мелочи. И в этом Illum также воспринимается как профессиональный продукт, начать с ним работать не составит труда.






Для тех, кто снимает в темноте, есть башмак для вспышки, встроенной вспышки нет, и это понятно. Объектив несъемный, но по любым меркам он очень неплох, фокусное расстояние – от 30 до 250 мм, оптический зум х8. Размер матрицы невелик, что и позволило довольно бюджетно реализовать такой объектив, привычно прикидывая стоимость такого светосильного стеклышка с постоянным значением f/2, получается цена больше, чем стоит сам Illum. Но это своего рода самообман, так как, помимо объектива, надо смотреть на матрицу, а здесь она небольшая – 1/1.2 дюйма. Для сенсора такого размера создание подобного рода объектива выглядит намного проще, чем для больших матриц, нет необходимости бороться с побочными эффектами. Но отсутствие оптической стабилизации показывает, что в Lytro все это понимают и не тратят зря время в R&D на то, что не будет очень важно для восприятия этого продукта. Если оценивать переход от первого поколения ко второму, то можно посчитать, что это как переход от прыжков с парашютом к управляемым полетам на самолетах. В одном случае вы попадаете из точки А в точку Б и даже чуточку можете управлять полетом за счет строп, а вот на самолете вы вольны сами выбирать, куда лететь, на какой высоте и так далее. Но освоение самолета требует времени, но не чего-то иного, занятие это довольно простое и не сложнее, чем освоить вождение автомобиля.



На ярком свету нейтральный фильтр пригодится, так как иначе фотографии могут быть пересвечены, это обратная сторона светосильного объектива. Поэтому не стоит сразу отказываться от фильтра и думать, что он никогда не пригодится.

Мне понравилось в объективе то, что можно крутить колесико из резины, чтобы использовать зум, но также можно вторым колесиком выбирать глубину резкости. Это можно делать и выбрав на сенсорном экране объект при съемке. Это полностью напоминает то, как мы работаем с обычными камерами, и возникает вопрос, неужели здесь ровно то же самое, а как же последующий выбор глубины резкости или объектов, на которых фокусируется кадр?

Отличие в том, что неважно, какой объект вы выберете, в последующем вы сможете изменить фокус самостоятельно, при съемке видно, как с выбранного предмета в кадре фиксация автофокуса перемещается в центр. Это вовсе не ошибка, так как выбор того или иного объекта в кадре нужен не для фокусировки на нем, он будет резким в любом случае, а для изменения глубины фокусировки или зон, которые в последующем вы сможете выбирать. На компьютере можно сделать резким как весь снимок, так и отдельные зоны, но при съемке вы можете как раз задать разные планы, ограничить их или установить камеру на бесконечность. Слева на экране показывается линейка с разными цветами, а также всплывают подсказки о расстояниях, это удобно, так как позволяет оценить то, какие планы в вашем снимке будут.



Нажав на кнопку Lytro, вы можете также увидеть закраску кадра на экране, оранжевые контуры появляются у предметов, что будут на заднем плане, а синие – у тех, что впереди. При этом такой подход удобен, когда вы только учитесь работать с Illum, потом этот режим можно отключить, так как он не дает представления обо всех планах, это упрощение.


Но что интересно, начиная с версии прошивки 2 вы можете щипком на экране менять глубину резкости, делать резким весь снимок или отдельные планы. Напомню, что эффективное расстояние съемки – от нуля сантиметров! Тут важно, чтобы на линзу не попадала пыль или грязь, тогда объектив может даже фокусироваться на ней.


Откидывающийся экран неплох, на солнце экранчик читается неплохо, есть разные настройки для дисплея, можно регулировать его яркость. Фактически, в Illum сделали ставку на то, чтобы использовать компоненты с массового рынка, внутри камеры – чипсет Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, это обычный смартфон с 4-дюймовым экраном и работающий на Android. Но доступ к Android заблокирован, никаких дополнительных и ненужных в камере функций, вы просто не поймете, что это тот самый Android. Зато разработчики могут быстро реализовать дополнительные функции, так, в Illum есть Wi-Fi и возможность напрямую подключаться к iOS-устройствам, получать на них фотографии с камеры и тут же редактировать. Сапожник без сапог, обещанная поддержка этого софта на Android пока так и не появилась. То, что с камеры можно передавать файлы на мобильные устройства и редактировать их там, большой плюс.







Закрытость Android на Illum сразу же снимает вопрос, какая версия системы стоит, будет ли обновление и так далее. И для специализированных устройств это верно, так как в них важны те функции, что они выполняют. Из-за того, что Android максимально облегчили, время запуска камеры довольно небольшое, около тридцати секунд. Но обычные фотоаппараты включаются моментально, что тут недостижимо. Также в режиме ожидания камера живет не бесконечно долго, в какой-то момент она засыпает, чтобы не тратить энергию.

Хочу несколько слов сказать про аккумулятор, он имеет емкость 3760 мАч, заряжается вне камеры, и на это уходит около 2 часов. Вам хватит батареи примерно на 300-400 снимков, возможно, что их будет и больше, если уменьшить подсветку экрана, а также время его работы. В целом, никаких нареканий на время работы камеры нет, хотя просмотр фотографий и их обсчет негативно сказываются на времени жизни аккумулятора, он быстро садится. Равно как и использование Wi-Fi для передачи данных, как и в других камерах, батарейка начинает таять на глазах. Возможно, что по этой причине отказались от использования GPS, который есть в чипсете, можно было бы ставить геометки в фотографии, но этой возможности нет.




У меня нет желания досконально описывать элементы управления камеры, она схожа с зеркалками, и если вы умеете работать с ними, то и тут быстро поймете, как все работает. Колесико, которое смотрит на вас, позволяет быстро менять коррекцию экспозиции, переднее колесико отвечает за диафрагму. Хорошее управление и не худшая эргономика – это то, что стоит знать о камере. Но ведь главное – то, какие снимки вы получаете и что можете с ними делать.

Фотографируем на Illum, а также обрабатываем снимки в Lytro Desktop

Как вы уже поняли, процесс получения фотографий на Illum незамысловат. Выбрали сцену, нажали кнопку затвора. Можно поиграть с зумом и тем, какую глубину сцены выбрать, но это не принципиально, в большинстве ситуаций можно это сделать потом на компьютере. Но если в обычных камерах, работающих по принципу «навел и снял», на выходе у вас фотография, с которой ничего не сделать (я не имею в виду редактирование и украшательства, там не изменить фокус), то в картинках с Lytro меняется глубина резкости, вы можете сделать задний план резким и наоборот. Одним словом, тут полная свобода для творчества, которая ничем не ограничена. Но есть и еще несколько моментов, которые радуют – это то, что полученный файл можно экспортировать в 3D-картинку как для телевизора, так и для компьютера (смотреть как с очками, так и без таковых). То есть, это встроенная возможность, и вам не нужно для этого прикладывать какие-либо усилия, вы просто конвертируете ваш файл, который записывается на карту памяти.

В комплекте карты памяти нет, производитель заявляет, что минимальный класс для SD-карты – 10, все, что выше, будет хорошо. Серийная съемка – только 3 кадра в секунду, это связано с тем, что выбранный чипсет все-таки не самый быстрый в таких задачах, а специальный DSP под фотосъемку не разрабатывался, это слишком дорого. Камера не умеет снимать видео, что я считаю совершенно верным, да и для технологии Light Field это потребовало бы более производительного процессора плюс большей емкости аккумулятора.

Камера может сохранять файлы в двух форматах – XRAW (110 МБ), Lytro RAW (около 50 МБ). Разница в форматах связана с тем, что в Lytro RAW хранится только информация о снимке, без дополнительной привязки к камере. При первой синхронизации с компьютером или мобильным устройством камера передает данные о своих настройках, оптике. И затем они используются при обработке фотографий. К слову сказать, при первом использовании камеры обязательно надо дождаться передачи этих данных, а карту памяти лучше форматировать перед первым использованием. Также не стоит ставить карту памяти из одной камеры Illum в другую, фотографии могут получить искажения (в теории, но вряд ли кто-то проверял это на практике за стенами лаборатории Lytro). Разрешение файлов для этих форматов - .lfx и.lfr соответственно.


Как вы уже поняли, в XRAW каждый файл также содержит все эти настроечные данные, поэтому если вы не планируете делиться этими файлами, будете обрабатывать их только у себя и со своей камерой, то смело выбирайте Lytro RAW, на карте поместится в два раза больше снимков. Так, карта памяти в 32 ГБ может сохранить около 200 снимков.

Итак, вы поиграли с Illum и у вас есть какое-то количество снимков, самое время загрузить на ПК (Windows/Mac) программу Lytro Desktop и получить в ней свои снимки. Их тут же можно обработать, это процесс небыстрый, но и не бесконечно долгий, на два десятка снимков на довольно производительном ноутбуке MacBook Pro на Intel i5 с 4 ГБ оперативной памяти уходит около десяти минут.

В программе можно посмотреть сами снимки, просмотреть анимацию, в ней показывается изменение глубины резкости, эту анимацию также можно затем конвертировать в небольшой ролик (1080p или 720p с разными настройками).

Этот софт имеет хорошие возможности для редактирования фотографий, но если вы привыкли к Adobe Photoshop, то вам понравится, что каждый снимок можно отправить в этот пакет, он будет представлен отдельным слоем! Следует помнить, что разрешение небольшое, всего 4 мегапикселя, но качество картинки неплохое, другое дело, что напечатать плакаты не выйдет. Но это и не нужно.


















Я очень рекомендую посмотреть видео про Illum, чтобы понять, как работает программное обеспечение и что именно вы можете в нем делать, как менять разные планы на фотографии.


Так как просмотреть фотографии без специального софта невозможно, то предусмотрен их экспорт в JPEG (статичная картинка), небольшое видео с различными эффектами, что иногда создает кинематографический эффект, очень стильный, надо признать. Но также есть возможность загрузить нужные фотографии на вашу страничку в Lytro.


А потом их можно вставить на любую веб-страничку, причем вы сможете уже там менять глубину резкости и смотреть на разные планы.

Нижний торец содержит батарейный отсек и резьбовое крепление на штатив. А разъемы для карта памяти и USB-кабеля находятся не левом торце камеры под длинной дверцей-заглушкой. Пожалуй, на этом внешний осмотр следует закончить. Гораздо интереснее в случае с Lytro Illum не то, как она выглядит, а то как она работает.

Аппаратная составляющая

В случае Lytro Illum некорректно говорить о разрешении матрицы. По крайней мере, на этом настаивает производитель. Ее разрешение составляет 40 megaray (40 мегалучей, что бы это ни значило), но на выходе может получить картинку не крупнее, чем 2450х1634 - это примерно четыре мегапикселя. Дебютная камера Lytro могла похвастаться разрешением 1080х1080 пикселей. Сам сенсор имеет размер 6,4х4,8 мм, а в его основе лежит технология CMOS. Впрочем, здесь все немного сложнее, чем в обычной камере.

Технология Light Field записывает информацию об интенсивности освещения сцены, а также о направлении света. Сенсор Lytro использует массив микролинз расположенных напротив обычного сенсора (в данном случае CMOS) чтобы различать информацию об интенсивности освещения, его направлении и о цвете. Затем фирменное ПО преобразует эти данные в 2D или 3D-изображения. Снимки сохраняются в фирменном формате Lytro RAW (в оригинальном и сжатом виде), а каждый «весит» примерно 55–60 мегабайт. В случае с обычной камерой столько места занимал бы 40-мегапиксельный снимок в 14-битном RAW.

Чувствительность сенсора регулируется в пределах ISO 80–3200. Есть функция автоматического выбора, которая работает вполне успешно. Диапазон выдержек выглядит типично для камеры бюджетного класса – от 1/4000 до 32 секунд.

Теперь о самом неожиданном: внутри стоит мобильный процессор Qualcomm 800. И почему-то производитель не слишком распространяется об аппаратной платформе. Но надо отметить, что работает камера довольно медленно, особенно это касается автофокуса и режима просмотра.

Серийная съемка возможна с частотой 3 кадра в секунду, однако автофокус в этом случае не работает. В обычных условиях камере требуется примерно секунда для наведения на резкость.

Дисплей, как уже говорилось, имеет наклонную конструкцию. Это довольно качественная 4-дюймовая матрица с разрешением 1 152 000 точек. Сенсорный ввод поддерживается и прекрасно работает. Ну а с «внешним миром» камера может соединяться по Wi-Fi или по USB 3.0. Для нее есть отдельное iOS-приложение (без которого вполне можно обойтись) программа Lytro Desktop для Windows и Mac (а вот без неё прожить будет трудно).

А теперь о том, чего в Lytro Illum нет. Это видеосъемка. Записывать ролики камера не умеет ни в каком виде. Но можно сделать склейку из нескольких фотографий при их обработке.

Съемка, обработка, публикация

Получить обычное JPEG-изображение прямо из камеры нельзя. Для этого нужно задействовать фирменное приложение. Строго говоря, без программ Lytro вы не сможете даже посмотреть отснятый материал нигде, кроме как на экране камеры. Ни один из сторонних конвертеров «не понимает» Lytro RAW, и вряд ли это будет исправлено в ближайшее время.

    Getting Started Charging the battery Before using the camera for the first time, charge the lithium-ion battery. Place the battery into the includ- ed quick charger, and plug the charger into a standard 110- or 220-volt, 50-60 Hz electrical outlet. When taking the battery out of the box, it may be partially charged; a fully discharged battery may take four  hours or more to charge completely. During charging, the LED on the charger will illuminate. When charging is complete, the LED will turn off.  A blinking LED indicates a power or connection problem, such as the battery not being inserted properly.     Inserting an SD card Open the port cover and insert a SD, SDHC, or SDXC card into the SD card slot. For the first time use of  the camera, 2GB of free space is required on the SD card. This free space is required for the Pairing data  (see Transferring the Pairing data in this section). Close the port cover. Using the set-up assistant The first time the camera is turned on, there is a walk through to set-up the camera, where you select the  language for the camera to use, select time zone, set the date and time, and transfer the Pairing data (see  next section). The camera will then give a very brief overview of its most unique controls and features. Transferring the Pairing data As part of the walk-through to set up the camera, Pairing data is transferred to the SD card. The Pairing  data is required by the Lytro Desktop to optimally process pictures, and will be automatically copied off of  the SD card by the Lytro Desktop the first time pictures are imported from that card. The Pairing data requires approximately 2GB of free space on the SD card. Do not reformat or delete the  contents of the SD card until the Pairing data has been transferred to the Lytro Desktop. The Pairing data may be manually transferred at a later time (see Transfer Pairing Data to SD Card). Powering on and off Briefly press the power button to turn the camera on. To power off, briefly press the power button again.

To return to single shutter mode, tap the icon again.     Calibrating the Level Gauge The first time you tap the Level icon calibrate the ILLUM’s level feature, your ILLUM may need to be calibrated. Follow the 6  simple on-screen steps to properly calibrate your ILLUM. You can also follow the steps below if you ever need to recalibrate the  level in the camera. Follow the on-screen guide to calibrate the ILLUM level. You must remove the ILLUM lens hood and Lytro straps before cal- ibrating. If you have attached the Lytro strap anchors to the ILLUM, you will need to remove them to continue. Click yes on  screen to initiate the 6 step calibration process. Place the ILLUM on a flat, level surface like a table. Touch the Start Now button on the screen. As prompted, rotate the ILLUM  in the direction indicated by the arrow and place the ILLUM on that same flat table surface. You will be instructed to rotate and  replace the ILLUM in the new orientation six times to complete the process. If you rotate the camera the wrong direction or  skip a step when instructed, the calibration process will not complete.

    Depth Composition Features The refocusable range The Living Pictures captured with the Lytro ILLUM can be refocused, just by tapping. This ability to refocus is remarkable, but  it does have limits — what we call the refocusable range — for every picture. The refocusable range comprises all the points  brought into relatively sharp focus after a picture is captured. The refocusable range is made up of two component ranges: the near refocusable range, which is closer to the camera, and the  far refocusable range, which is further away. Each offers a spectrum of relative sharpness, depending on the depth to which the  image is refocused. In the illustrations that follow, the brighter the shade of the blue or orange band, the sharper objects at that distance will appear  when refocused. The brightest band in each component range is its peak — where objects will appear sharpest when refocusing.

    Depth Assist Bar The Depth Assist Bar appears as a column near the right edge of the screen. The orange and blue bands within the bar show  where the current refocusable range falls in terms of distances from the camera. The objects within that range are the ones that can  be refocused on after the Living Picture is captured. Each of the colored bands represents one slice of the depth within the refocusable range, called Depth Steps. The brighter the  color of a Depth Step, the sharper the objects at that distance will appear when it is refocused. In the Depth Assist Bar, the orange and blue bands, or Depth Steps, represent the refocusable range. The numbers indicate the physical distances from the camera. The distances are measured from the sensor plane symbol,  , visible on the right side of the camera’s exterior. While the mea- surements are mostly accurate, they are not perfect. Think them as useful guide, there to give a good sense of where the refocus- able range is located.

    Light field Hyperfocal position When the lens is set to the light field hyperfocal position, the refocusable range extends from optical infinity (the horizon) to a close  focus distance. More specifically, objects at or near optical infinity are at a depth near the peak of the far refocusable range, while the  entire near refocusable range extends closer to the camera.     Optical Offset When looking at the live view, the shallow depth of field is due to the f /2.0 main lens. There is much more in the refocusable range  than what appears sharp in the live view. The optical offset plots the optical focus position used in the live view (and for autofocus) to  the refocusable range — and can be adjusted to suit the style of Living Picture being captured. When the optical offset is at the default setting, objects at the peak of the near refocusable range will appear sharply focused in the  live view. This means that a Living Picture can be refocused on whatever looked sharp in the live view when it was taken, as well as on  objects further away, since most of the refocusable range will fall beyond that point. In the illustrations that follow, the brighter the shade of the blue or orange band, the sharper objects at that distance will appear when  refocused. The brightest band in each component range is its peak — where objects will appear sharpest when refocusing.

    Adjusting Optical Offset To adjust the optical offset, add the Optical Offset icon to the Menu Bar (see Rearrange Menu), then tap it. The Menu Bar will be  hidden, and a depth scale will be displayed. Bands in shades of blue represent the near refocusable range, and bands in shades of orange represent the far refocusable range.  The current optical offset position is indicated by a white band (the default position is -4). Rotate the front dial to relocate the opti- cal offset closer or further away in the refocusable range. Optical Offset  Rotate the front dial to adjust the optical offset. To close the depth scale, unhide the Menu Bar by swiping left from the right edge of the screen. The optical offset will remain at  the new setting until it is changed using these same steps.

    Depth Histogram and Depth Overlay The Lytro ILLUM offers live, interactive depth analysis in the form of the Depth Histogram and Depth Overlay. Both provide  feedback on where subjects fall relative to the refocusable range. To activate them, fully press the Lytro button. The Depth Histogram consists of bands extending out to the right of a depth scale. Bands in shades of blue represent the near  refocusable range, and bands in shades of orange represent the far refocusable range. The more there is available to refocus on at  a given depth, the further the band beside it will extend to the right. Evaluate a potential shot using the Depth Histogram. The large wave in the near refocusable range (blue) corresponds to the  subject in the foreground. The wave in the far refocusable range (orange) corresponds to the subject in the background. A well  structured Living Picture with a full range of interactivity will have a balanced histogram of blue and orange when composed and  captured.
  • Page 82 Glancing at the histogram can tell if you have a substantial subject within the refocusable range. To maximize the impact of refo- cusing, it is ideal to have a significant histogram wave in both the near refocusable range and the far refocusable range. Waves  outside of the refocusable range correspond to objects in the background or foreground that can not be refocused. The Depth Overlay provides the same kind of information as the Depth Histogram, but displays it as an overlay on objects in the  live view. Objects that fall within the near refocusable range are edged with blue. Objects that fall within the far refocusable are  edged with orange. Instantly see whether there is enough subject matter in each of the ranges to provide good refocusing possi- bilities. Objects in the near refocusable range are edged in blue; those in the far refocusable range are edged in orange. White in the  histogram represents the elements in the scene which will be outside the refocusable range in your Living Picture, and can not be  focused on when interacting with the image..

    Focus bracketing Like the more familiar exposure bracketing, focus bracketing causes the camera to take a series of pictures each time the shutter  button is pressed. But instead of varying the exposure between each picture, the camera varies the focus. That means the refocus- able range is shifting, too, so there is a better chance of capturing a picture with great possibilities for refocusing. The change in focus between each picture is expressed in Depth Steps. Choose the number of Depth Steps, from 1 to 10, be- tween each picture. One can choose 3 or 5 pictures.     You can open the Settings menu from either Capture or Playback Mode by tapping the Settings icon in the Menu Bar. The Set- tings menu will fill the screen, replacing whatever was displayed. Swipe the touchscreen to scroll up or down through the menu. To close the Settings menu, tap CAPTURE at the top left of the screen, or press the shutter button halfway. The camera will always  return to Capture Mode when exiting Settings. To return to Playback Mode, tap the Playback Mode icon in the Menu Bar again, press the Fn button, or swipe the screen from left to right. Format SD card For best performance, format your SD card in the Lytro ILLUM after transferring the Pairing data to the Lytro Desktop, and again  after using it in any other device. Please note that formatting the card will erase any data stored on it. To begin, tap FORMAT SD  CARD in the Settings menu. A window will open with two options: FORMAT or CANCEL. To continue with formatting, tap FOR- MAT. When formatting is complete, tap DONE to return to the Settings menu. Brightness Adjust the brightness of the screen by tapping BRIGHTNESS in the Settings menu and dragging the slider. Or slide the AU- TO-BRIGHTNESS selector to the ON position, and the camera will automatically adjust the brightness to the lighting conditions.

    You can select which file format the camera records in, Lytro RAW or Lytro XRAW. Tap FILE FORMAT in the Settings menu, then  tap on your selection. Lytro RAW files contain the raw light field picture data and can only be viewed on the camera or on a computer running a copy of  Lytro Desktop that has been paired with the camera. Lytro XRAW files contain the raw light field picture data as well as the pairing  data required to properly process the light field. Lytro XRAW can viewed using any copy of Lytro Desktop, but is a much larger file. iOS Connect To connect your iOS device to the Lytro ILLUM over Wi-Fi, open the Settings menu and tap iOS CONNECT. Set ACCESS POINT  to ON. On your iOS device, go to Settings, Wi-Fi. Make sure Wi-Fi is activated. Under CHOOSE A NETWORK, tap OTHER. Enter the  network name as displayed on the camera (be sure to use uppercase and lowercase letters exactly as shown). Select WPA security, and enter the password as displayed on the camera. If the iOS device is within range, it should connect to the camera’s network. Камера с таким чудесным названием появляется на страницах iXBT уже в третий раз. Но первые две статьи были опубликованы давно - в 2012 году. И рассказ нам придется вести почти с нуля, поскольку три года назад разработка Lytro Inc была не более чем забавной игрушкой, хотя и подающей некоторые надежды. На всякий случай я обозначу ссылки на две наши статьи 2012 года: «Экспериментальная камера Lytro, общее знакомство » и «Камера Lytro, работа с файлами ». В статьях этих подробно рассказывается о людях, которые решили сделать революционную (очень необычную) камеру, о принципах фотографирования светового поля и об особенностях отображения фотографий Lytro.

Но с 2012 года прошло немало времени. И после некоторой паузы (больше года компания Lytro Inc молчала) в апреле 2014 года компания снова удивила мир заявлением, что выходит на рынок с новым поколением продуктов, а именно:

  • фотокамерой светового поля нового поколения - 40-мегалучевой Lytro Illum
  • софтом для обработки фотографий Lytro Desktop (под Windows и MacOS)
  • софтом для беспроводного управления съемкой Lytro iOS Mobile Application (только под айфоно-айпады, как несложно догадаться)

В 2015 году промелькнула еще одна «скромная» новость, что Lytro Inc расширяет сферу деятельности, внедряется в области кинематографа, создания смешанной реальности, научных исследований, а также в промышленность. Здесь, чтобы найти не слухи, а реальные факты, надо сильно углубиться в тему «фиксация, запись и обработка светового поля», а эта задача перед нами не стоит. Сейчас нам даже сложно понять (как и большинству смертных), что такое 40 мегалучей, которые камера Lytro Illum фиксирует в каждом кадре. Вернее, разобраться можно, но пока побережем энергию мозга и сосредоточимся на приземленных, практических вопросах:

  • Lytro Illum - это очень дорогая игрушка-безделушка или действительно серьезный аппарат для создания серьезных художественных работ?
  • Как работать с Lytro Illum? Просто нажимать на кнопку или вытягивать каждый килопиксель (то есть килолуч) в творческих режимах?
  • Как обрабатывать фотографии?
  • Какие фотографии (тип, уровень качества) мы можем получить на выходе?

Минимум теории

Но для начала мы дадим необходимый минимум теории - объясним на пальцах, что такое световое поле и как Lytro Illum его обрабатывает.

Представьте, что вы снимаете какой-то сюжет, причем делаете ручной брекетинг по точке фокусировки. Сначала фокусируетесь на ближнем объекте, потом - на объекте среднего плана, потом - на дальнем. И таким образом получаете три фотографии одного пространства, но с разными точками фокусировки. Например, так:


Итак, мы получили три картинки. Теперь представьте, что мы смогли объединить их в один файл и с помощью специальной программы просматривать, как этот кадр выглядит при разной фокусировке. Кликнули мышкой на ближнем объекте - получили фокус ближнего плана. Кликнули на среднем плане - получили в фокусе объекты среднего плана. И то же с дальним планом.

А теперь представьте, что у нас есть камера, которая за время экспозиции (допустим, за 1/60 секунды) делает три фотографии и объединяет их в такой трехплановый файл.


Примерно так же работает и камера светового поля. Только количество фотографий с разной фокусировкой у нее значительно больше, чем три. Врать не буду, я детально не разбирался с принципом работы фотокамеры Lytro. Я не понимаю, что это за характеристика - 40 мегалучей. Я не знаю точно, как дробится объемное поле на плоские фотографии. Я сам разобрался только «на пальцах», чтобы выполнить свою задачу - понять, что за зверь Lytro Illum и в чем ценность его меха.

Первые модели Lytro, о которых мы рассказывали в 2012 году, отличаются от Lytro Illum, как самокат от ракеты. Если Lytro Inc и дальше пойдет такими (семимильными) шагами, придется разбираться в деталях. Но пока достаточно общего понимания:

  • Когда Lytro Illum фокусируется, она выделяет опорный объект, а потом разбивает видимое пространство на две области: ближнюю и дальнюю. Ближняя расположена перед опорным объектом, дальняя - за ним.
  • Потом система микролинз объектива мгновенно перестраивает фокус, а камера фиксирует изображение в нескольких плоскостях ближней зоны и нескольких плоскостях дальней зоны. Потом, при обработке фотографии в Lytro Desktop, мы можем менять границы ближней и дальней зоны, управлять фокусировкой разных объектов кадра или, точнее, светового пространства (светового поля).
  • Созданный файл в формате Lytro RAW весит примерно 52 мегабайта при разрешении снимка 2450×1634 (то есть 4 мегапикселя). Но в мегапикселях, по мнению Lytro Inc, объем такой фотографии не измеришь. Поэтому в качестве меры разрешения компания предлагает загадочные мегалучи. Вполне возможно, что когда-нибудь мы поймем, что это такое, но пока можно признать, что с точки зрения маркетинга ход неслабый. «У тебя камера - 20 дешевых мегапикселей. А у меня - 40 мегалучей!»
  • Скорее всего, Lytro Illum сшивает RAW-файл по принципу видеосъемки: выделяет опорные кадры и фиксирует изменения в промежуточных кадрах.

Еще раз озвучим, что в понимании «на пальцах» есть много неточностей, но сейчас это не так важно. Чтобы понять, для чего создана камера Lytro Illum, что́ она принципиально несет нового, предлагаю посмотреть небольшой видеоролик. Он, конечно, рекламный, но не выдержан в тонах «Если у вас нет Lytro Illum, вы полный лох». Так что смотреть его можно без опаски.


А теперь мы можем исследовать Lytro Illum по привычной схеме, как обычную фотокамеру. Как обычную, правда, не получится, но мы все же попробуем.

Особенности
  • Lytro Illum фотографирует световое поле - объемную картину, набор «плоских» кадров, сфокусированных на разных расстояниях от объектива.
  • В набор Lytro Illum входит нейтральный фильтр ND8 72 мм. Скорее всего, на очень ярком свету светосильный объектив придется «гасить» на три ступени, чтобы хватило минимальной выдержки.

В первую очередь, если рассматривать Lytro Illum как обычную фотокамеру, можно обратить внимание на:

  • Уникальные характеристики объектива: 8-кратный зум с постоянной светосилой f/2 - это нечто!
  • С другой стороны, создать объектив с такими характеристиками гораздо проще для небольшого сенсора, чем для Four Thirds или APS-C, не говоря о полном кадре. Так что на небольшой размер сенсора также придется обратить внимание и заранее задаться вопросом: а как Lytro Illum справляется с шумами?
  • То, что камера снимает только в особом формате Light Field RAW Format - вернее, двух вариантах особого формата: Lytro RAW и Lytro XRAW. Второй вариант содержит дублирующие кадры и данные калибровки. При этом файлы XRAW по объему вдвое больше файлов RAW. Но главное, что «проявить» и просмотреть Lytro RAW и Lytro XRAW можно только в камере или с помощью программы Lytro Desktop. Значит, при сортировке и отборе кадров у нас частично связаны руки (здесь даже небольшие JPG-превьюшки были бы полезны).

Конструкция, дизайн, управление

Но прежде чем делать окончательные выводы, давайте познакомимся с Lytro Illum - посмотрим, как она сконструирована, насколько хорош и удобен корпус, насколько продумано управление.

Объектив Lytro Illum очень большой (особенно если вспомнить, что сенсор - маленький), но корпус неплохо гармонирует с большим объективом.

Два колеса объектива с прорезиненным силиконовым покрытием - это фокусировка (выбор опорного объекта) и зумирование (дальнее, широкое колесо).

Между колесом фокусировки и колесом зумирования - неподвижная область. Просто разделитель.

Отверстия внизу на левой грани и около кнопки спуска на верхней грани - для крепления ремня.

Под откидной крышкой скрываются только слот карты памяти и разъем USB 3.0.

Большой экран занимает почти всю плоскость задней панели, что вполне оправдано: на сенсорное управление «повешена» бо́льшая часть функций.

Больше того, в теории можно вообще игнорировать механические средства управления, обойдясь только сенсорным экраном (хотя зумирование накрепко связано с механикой).

Но понятно, что истина лежит посередине, и самый удобный способ управления - это комбинация возможностей сенсора, нескольких кнопок и двух управляющих колес.

Как большинство производителей фототехники с откидным экраном, Lytro Inc использовала модную ныне конструкцию с плоским кабелем.

Поначалу использование плоского кабеля вызывало сомнения: а достаточно ли надежен этот соединитель? Но судя по количеству моделей, в которых откидной экран связан с камерой плоским кабелем, это не только недорогое, но и надежное решение.

Как во многих схемах управления, заднее управляющее колесо находится сверху под большим пальцем правой руки.

Чуть ниже мы видим четыре программируемые кнопки. По умолчанию это AF (запуск автофокуса), AEL (блокировка экспозиции), гиперфокальная кнопка и резервная (просто программируемая).

С другой стороны, на рукоятке, мы видим кнопку спуска, переднее управляющее колесо и кнопку Lytro (с белым кругом).

Полунажатие кнопки Lytro показывает диаграмму фокусировки - слои светового поля, находящиеся до опорного объекта и за ним (ближняя и дальняя зоны подкрашиваются разными цветами). Полное нажатие кнопки Lytro меняет картину: показывает гистограмму светового поля (максимум слоев приходится на зону, близкую к опорному объекту), а фрагменты в кадре подкрашивает (показывает, к какой части светового поля принадлежит тот или иной фрагмент).

Пока Lytro Inc не может похвастаться большим количеством акссессуаров, устанавливаемых в горячий башмак. Но главное, что уже выпущено - мощная вспышка JY680L TTL Flash for Lytro Illum с ведущим числом 58.

Разумеется, в «башмак» можно устанавливать «светильники» и беспроводные синхронизаторы (для внешней вспышки) сторонних производителей.

Про аккумулятор известно лишь, что его емкость 3760 мА·ч. К сожалению, данных по ресурсу (количеству снимков, которые можно сделать на одной зарядке) нет. Возможно, потому что Lytro Inc не член CIPA.

Подзарядку аккумулятора можно производить через USB, а для полной быстрой (примерно двухчасовой) зарядки камера снабжена отдельным устройством.


Первое впечатление от Lytro Illum - «так себе». Когда камера попадает в руки, она кажется не слишком удобной. Сразу появляется дурная мысль: «Накрутили, футурологи!» Но потом проходит час-другой-третий без всяких дурных мыслей. Камера удобна в съемке. Только на очень ярком свету (когда экран слепнет) порой возникают проблемы с переключением режимов. Но снимать на ярком свету можно и с полуслепым экраном: очертания кадра видны, гистограмму тоже хорошо видно (можно подкрутить экспокоррекцию, выдержку или диафрагму), так что с компоновкой кадра и экспозицией не промахнешься. А с фокусом промахнуться практически невозможно - даже если камера выберет не тот опорный объект, фокусировку можно поменять при обработке фотографии.

Давайте теперь посмотрим, какие базовые настройки предлагает Lytro Illum. Пояснения к скриншотам появляются как всплывающие подсказки. Хотя можно просмотреть «скрины» в увеличенном виде, и тогда пояснения станут подписями внизу.


Итак, после первичного осмотра можно сделать первые выводы:

  • Инженеры (конструкторы, дизайнеры, программисты) Lytro Inc блестяще справились с очень сложной задачей. Они буквально с нуля создали очень удобную в съемке камеру с хорошо продуманным интерфейсом. Опыт создания первой модели Lytro можно считать нулевым, это был интересный концепт, но «никакая» камера.
  • К конструкции и управлению Lytro Illum даже сложно придраться. Механическое и сенсорное управление прекрасно дополняют друг друга. За время общения с камерой (больше двух недель) единственное, что захотелось поправить - дополнить RAW-снимки превьюшками JPG. Поскольку софт Lytro Desktop довольно тяжелый (требует неслабого компьютера), сортировка съемки без превьюшек становится долгой задачей.
  • Хотя магниево-алюминиевый корпус покрыт черным гладким силиконом, без всяких следов «ретро», Lytro Illum производит впечатление дорогой фотокамеры непонятно какой породы. Впрочем, она такая и есть - дорогая и непонятно какой породы, даже конкурентов не назовешь.

Качество изображения - разрешение и шумы

Сразу заметим, что рассматривать Lytro Illum как обычную фотокамеру - не совсем правильно или даже совсем неправильно. За время экспозиции, пока объектив меняет фокусировку, камера записывает несколько кадров в один файл (их количество, по идее, зависит от глубины снимаемого пространства). Скорее всего, как в сжатой видеозаписи, среди записанных кадров есть опорные и промежуточные.

Но, с другой стороны, Lytro Illum - хоть и необычная, но фотокамера. И любому фотографу интересно, насколько высоко разрешение съемки и насколько быстро растут шумы при увеличении чувствительности. Поэтому мы проведем замеры, хотя понимаем, что работа Lytro Illum ориентирована на создание объемных изображений.

Для нашей задачи - оценки уровня разрешения и шума - лучше всего подходит обычный JPG, сфокусированный точно на плоскости нашего лабораторного стенда. Или обычный TIFF. Но мы выбрали первый, поскольку даже незначительные различия между JPG и TIFF найти практические невозможно.

С оценкой разрешения особых сложностей у нас не возникло. А вот программа расчета уровня шумов снимки Lytro Illum не смогла обработать. Вернее, так: например, чтобы вычислить шумы на уровне ISO 400, эта программа сравнивает кадры ISO 80 и ISO 400, выявляет степень отличия и пересчитывает в уровень шума. На самом деле, алгоритм расчета более сложный, но сейчас мы не будем углубляться в детали. То есть уровень шумов можно вычислить, если в кадрах ISO 80 и ISO 400 геометрия объектов одинакова, нет никаких искажений. Если же искажения есть, как в случае Lytro Illum, сравнивать файлы бесполезно. Сравнение покажет не уровень шумов, а уровень изменений геометрии.


А когда Lytro Illum формирует перефокусированный JPG или TIFF, оптические искажения довольно заметны. Возможно, это не чисто оптические искажения, а результат пересчета при формировании промежуточных кадров - в данном случае причина неважна. А важно, что мы не можем оценить уровень шума программно, нам придется использовать экспертные оценки. Впрочем, это не так страшно, поскольку уровень шума Lytro Illum по меркам обычных фотокамер довольно высокий. Можно спорить с точностью экспертной оценки, но то, что уровень шума велик - очевидно.

Теперь, если мы переведем картинки в цифры, мы получим довольно интересные графики. Сплошные линие - это разрешение в светлой сцене (синяя) и разрешение в темной сцене (красная). Как видите, выдержка и уровень чувствительности влияют на разрешение, но совсем не так, как мы привыкли видеть на графиках у обычных фотокамер. Разрешение то опускается, то снова поднимается с ростом чувствительности. Это значит, что есть более сильный фактор, влияющий на разрешение. Мы предполагаем, что камера просто не может обеспечить высокое разрешение, когда за короткий промежуток времени (в течение выдержки кадра) фиксирует и обсчитывает множество кадров светового поля.

Что касается уровня шумов - он очень велик, пунктирные линии (графики шумов) резко уходят вверх. Но здесь надо пояснить один момент: в нашей уровень шумов рассчитан так, чтобы визуально он соответствовал падению разрешения. И он визуально соответствует, когда разрешение камеры составляет хотя бы 12 или 16 мегапикселей. Но 4-мегапиксельная Lytro Illum смотрится в нашей системе расчетов как совсем слабенькая. Уровень шумов велик, разрешение низкое, их отношение - тоже величина небольшая. Но именно такую оценку Lytro Illum получает как обычная фотокамера.

Напомню, что R - это количество различимых мегапикселей в диапазоне ISO 80 - 3200. N - это уровень шума в том же диапазоне. Оценка RN - соотношение разрешения и шума. Чтобы понять, как соотносится уровень шума и разрешения, желательно ознакомиться с нашей . Синие оценки на графике получены в светлой сцене, красные оценки - в затемненной сцене.



Главный вывод, который можно сделать в этом разделе - что Lytro Illum ориентирована на съемку на свету (установка как можно более низкой чувствительности; можно работать на коротких, можно на длинных выдержках). А если света недостаточно, остается только съемка неподвижных объектов со штатива (установка как можно более низкой чувствительности; необходимость работы на длинных выдержках). На коротких выдержках чувствительность лучше не поднимать выше ISO 1000, на длинных - выше ISO 400.

Второй вывод: высокой детализации на снимках Lytro Illum не будет ни при каких условиях. Общее разрешение изображений, на которые можно разложить объемный снимок, составляет 4 мегапикселя, но число различимых пикселей в снимке вдвое меньше.

На самом деле, можно излишне не сгущать краски. Мы, конечно, привыкли мерить разрешение снимков десятком-другим мегапикселей. Но 2 миллиона различимых пикселей - этого, например, достаточно для отображения на экране Full HD. Или для печати фотокарточек 10×15 с разрешением 300 dpi. Даже в запасе кое-что останется. Правда, не будет простора для кадрирования, так что снимать придется прицельно.

Пожалуй, уже сейчас можно ответить на один из вопросов, поставленных в начале статьи - как фотограф может использовать творческие режимы Lytro Illum. Ответ можно дать в виде коротких рекомендаций:

  • Единственный режим, который влияет на сюжет в кадре, это приоритет выдержки. Он, как и вообще в фотографии, может заморозить или размыть динамичный объект.
  • Приоритета диафрагмы у Lytro Illum нет, работа с фокусировкой, глубиной резкости и даже формой и наклоном ГРИП производится в редакторе Lytro Desktop.
  • Так что мозг фотографа должен думать об одном - как произвести съемку на низкой чувствительности, поскольку даже на ISO 400 на длинной выдержке шумы станут весьма заметны (как у многих компактных камер, даже премиум-класса).
  • Разумеется, фотографу также придется напрягать мозг при выборе композиции, сюжета, инструментов, теней, светов, отражений, сечений кадра и т. д. Но это лучше делать в фоновом (подсознательном) режиме.

Оптика

Про объектив Lytro Illum мы уже сказали самое главное: он сохраняет постоянную и высокую светосилу во всем диапазоне фокусных расстояний. То есть создатели Illum позаботились, чтобы света на матрице было как можно больше. Все остальное, что можно сказать про объектив, - это наблюдения и рассуждения. От точных измерений Lytro Illum искусно уходит, словно сообщая нам: «Негоже нестандартную камеру тестить стандартными методами».

Мы уже видели, что разрешение в предыдущем тесте при росте чувствительности то падало, то снова росло. Это говорит только об одном: плоская картинка формируется в результате каких-то сложных расчетов - скорее всего, пересчета промежуточных (не опорных) кадров. И в итоге привычные нам факторы (ISO, оптическое разрешение объектива) перестают быть решающими для разрешения кадра. Больше того, перефокусировка возможна в одной физической плоскости(!).


Это хорошо видно на иллюстрации: на левом фрагменте красная стрелка указывает на объект в фокусе - радиальную миру сверху. На правом фрагменте того же снимка, в той же физической плоскости, фокус наведен на круговую миру внизу. Значит, пространство, в котором образуются слои кадра Lytro Illum, создается не набором плоских, перпендикулярных оптической оси кадров. Получается, что это наборы наклонных или искривленных (выпуклых или вогнутых) кадров. Или слоев еще более сложного пространства.

Здесь можно констатировать только одно: главная цель Lytro Illum - создание объемного изображения. Причем предполагается, что это изображение будет отображаться на экране монитора - в программе Lytro Desktop или в или в . А в этом случае детализация остается на втором плане или даже на третьем плане. В первую очередь, рассматривая объемное изображение, человек обращает внимание на композицию, на возможность переместить фокус с одного объекта на другой, на цветопередачу (у Lytro Illum с цветопередачей все хорошо, она очень живая, яркая).

Если подвести черту под нашим поверхностным анализом оптики, можно сказать, что:

  • дисторсия во всем диапазоне фокусных расстояний близка к нулю, геометрические искажения кадра практически отсутствуют;
  • разрешение во всем диапазоне остается невысоким, порядка 2 Мп (двух миллионов различимых пикселей), и его незначительные колебания, скорее всего, никак не связаны с оптическими характеристиками объектива (а невысокий уровень - порядка 0,5 линии на пиксель - связан с необходимостью быстрой фиксации большого числа кадров);
  • видимые на глаз хроматические аберрации невелики, даже на краю кадра.

И еще раз озвучим самое главное: объектив Lytro Illum сохраняет постоянную и высокую светосилу во всем диапазоне фокусных расстояний. То есть фотограф получает максимум света и возможность снимать на относительно низкой чувствительности.

И наконец, раз речь зашла об оптике, можно коснуться еще одной темы - возможности Lytro Illum фокусироваться на расстоянии 0 см от передней линзы объектива. Мы решили это проверить.

Действительно, управление фокусировкой у камеры настолько гибкое, что она может «хватать» объекты на нулевом расстоянии. Эта белка на иллюстрации ниже буквально носом прильнула к передней линзе.


Но при этом мы видим досадный эффект: как будто эту белку вырезали с какой-то фотографии и вставили на слой другой фотографии. Причем монтаж получился довольно грубым. То есть когда Lytro Illum работает с малой глубиной резкости и только в ближней зоне, слои изображения смотрятся немного неестественно. Причем изменение виртуальной диафрагмы и попытки отрегулировать границы ближней и дальней зоны этот эффект не сняли. Но в редакторе Lytro Desktop есть возможность смягчить границы карты ГРИП (см. правую иллюстрацию). Если смягчить резкие границы карты, неприятный эффект можно убрать. Но это требует довольно кропотливой ретуши.

Скорость серийной съемки

Непрерывная съемка Lytro Illum не делится на быструю и медленную. И формат записи у камеры один - Lytro RAW (с экзотическим XRAW мы пока решили не связываться). Так что тест много времени не занял:


То есть камера быстро отщелкивает 9 кадров, а потом бесконечно может тянуть съемку со скоростью полкадра в секунду. Вернее так: в медленной бесконечной серии после 40 примерно кадров камера набирается сил и делает еще 3 быстрых кадра, а потом снова начинает щелкать со скоростью полкадра в секунду.

Замеры скорости непрерывной съемки производились с выдержкой 1/500 с. Карта памяти - SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I 16 ГБ (скорость записи до 95 МБ/с). Фонограмму испытаний можно скачать в конце статьи.

Программа Lytro Desktop

Эта программа - не только проявщик RAW. Без нее даже съемку на компьютере не просмотришь и в онлайн-галерею фотографии не закинешь (и галерея Lytro, и галерея 500px принимают фотографии только через Lytro Desktop).


Первое, что можно отметить в этой программе:



Мы уже говорили, что форматы, в которые можно перевести снимок Lytro RAW, в основном ориентированы на создание объемных изображений:

  • анаглифический красно-бирюзовый JPEG;
  • стерео-JPEG (JPS);
  • так называемый «редактируемый экранный снимок» (это TIFF небольшого формата 704×480 и карта глубины резкости в формате PNG);
  • видеоклип H.264 (MP4);
  • серия файлов PNG (формат соответствует экрану 720p или 1080p пикселей);
  • линзовый растр (серия JPEG-файлов небольшого формата, 676×442).

Отдельно в этой группе стоят обычные JPEG и TIFF. Видеоролики H.264, конечно, имитируют объемную картину. Остальные форматы - это либо готовое стереоизображение, либо «полуфабрикаты» для других программ, создающих 3D.


После того, как выполнена операция «Обработать изображение», можно попасть в раздел «Отрегулировать». Правда, попасть в этот раздел можно и без обработки, но тогда опции регулировки изображения будут недоступны. Часть предлагаемых регуляторов в этом разделе похожа на то, что мы привыкли видеть в обычном RAW-проявщике - это регулировка ББ, коррекция экспозиции, светов, теней, насыщенность цветов, теней и т. д. Но следующая группа регуляторов связана с коррекцией объемного изображения (см. правый фрагмент иллюстрации):

  • Здесь можно отрегулировать виртуальную диафрагму (ведь традиционной физической диафрагмы у Lytro Illum нет).
  • Отдельная группа регуляторов предназначена для карты ГРИП.
  • В «Зоне фокусировки» можно по отдельности установить край переднего плана сфокусированного участка и край заднего плана.
  • Отдельно можно отрегулировать наклон и поворот резко отображаемого пространства. Нечто подобное можно получить и в традиционной фотографии, используя shift-объектив, но, сами понимаете, в редакторе можно добиться гораздо более точного художественного эффекта.

Обратим внимание еще на одну особенность обработки кадров Lytro Illum. После обработки кадр обрезается по кромке. Этот эффект можно усилить, но нельзя убрать. Скорее всего, потому что при демонстрации снимков в галерее Lytro или 500px с помощью мыши можно чуть изменить точку съемки - как бы сместить камеру чуть вправо-влево и вверх-вниз, что слегка усиливает объемный эффект. Но при съемке придется учитывать, что края снимка в кадре пропадут, так что никакие важные для кадра объекты на край лучше не помещать.

Итоги

Давайте теперь попробуем ответить на главный вопрос - что это за зверь Lytro Illum и чем ценность его (ее) меха. Попробуем перечислить позитивные моменты:

  • Lytro Illum - первая в мире полноценная фотокамера, позволяющая снимать не просто фотографии, а световое поле, объемное пространство. Ее также можно назвать уникальной фотокамерой, ориентированной на создание объемных фотографий.
  • Lytro Illum удобна в съемке, красива, функциональна.
  • Камера предоставляет гибкие инструменты для работы с фокусировкой. Причем не одного объекта, а разных объектов в кадре.
  • Возможности камеры дополняются возможностями софта. Постобработка фотографий Lytro Illum позволяет создавать 3D- и 2D-изображения с весьма необычным распределением ГРИП.

Вместе с тем, можно отметить несколько негативных моментов:

  • Несмотря на революционность и уникальность, Lytro Illum нельзя назвать совершенной камерой. Главные ограничения связаны с невысоким разрешением и шумами, которые проявляются уже на уровне ISO 500-1000 и становятся очень высокими на уровне ISO 2000-3000.
  • Это, в свою очередь, ставит перед фотографом жесткие ограничения: он должен исхитриться сделать снимки на низкой чувствительности.
  • И конечно, нельзя сбрасывать со счетов очень высокую цену Lytro Illum в России. Ее цена в США уже опустилась ниже $1000, а в РФ остается выше $2000.

Lytro Illum - камера для фотографов, которым по каким-то причинам стало тесно в рамках традиционной, плоской 2D-фотографии. Это могут быть фотохудожники, которые сознательно ищут новые средства самовыражения. Это могут быть любители, которые не смогли найти себя в рамках 2D.

Я долго думал, с чем можно сравнить Lytro Illum (разумеется, понимая, что всякое сравнение условно и неточно). Наверное, больше всего она похожа на функцию 3D в современных телевизорах. Одни люди смотрят 3D-фильмы дома и наслаждаются объемной картинкой. Другие же просто не понимают, кому и зачем эта функция нужна. Людей на свете много, вкусов и предпочтений - еще больше. Думаю, у объемной фотографии есть будущее, а насколько оно большое, покажет время. Либо фотография светового поля найдет многих поклонников и укажет вектор развития фотографии как развлечения, искусства, научного и технического инструмента. Либо не найдет. Одно из двух.

В галерее мы поместили несколько кадров, никак не претендующих на художественную ценность. Но зато они настоящие, объемные, «литровские». Возможность получить код объемного кадра для вставки на свою веб-страницу есть в галерее Lytro. Галерея 500px только может хранить и демонстрировать объемные кадры, но кода для вставки не дает. Мы не стали помещать в нашу галерею слишком много семплов, поскольку каждый файл Lytro RAW весит больше 50 мегабайт.

Понять, как изменить перспективу объемного кадра, несложно: надо кликнуть мышью и, не отпуская, провести вправо или влево. Тогда весь кадр станет резким, и перспективу можно будет незначительно изменить. А с помощью колеса прокрутки мыши можно увеличить изображение. Если просто кликнуть на каком-либо объекте кадра, он «сфокусируется», а дальние от него объекты потеряют фокус.
